Posted on Wed, Dec 30, 2009 Peace Lutheran Church lost a faithful staff member, Michael Haag, who died on December 26th in his sleep. Michael was an amazing guitar player, song leader, Christian and friend. He lead our Praise Worship since March of 2006. Under his leadership our attendance has grown from about 15 per Sunday to around 75 per Sunday. Michael was married to Lauren (Nave) Haag at Peace Lutheran on July 19, 2008. A packed beyond capacity sanctuary for his memorial service was a tribute to the lives that Michael has touched. He will be missed!
My heart was with you all during his memorial service. His songs comes all the time into my mind and brings tears into my eyes. I would have loved to be there for the funerals, but I am too far away.
My Spirit can feel how terribly he is and will be missed. Playing with him for a year at Peace Lutheran has been one of the best gifts that God and Life could ever offer to me! Goodbye Mike...I know you will always sing your prayers from Above to all of us! Thank you to have touched my life, Roberta
I met Mike a few times when my wife and I lived in Manhattan and I was serving over at First Lutheran. I was always amazed at his gift for leading worship in the contemporary setting. I especially enjoyed filling in for pulpit supply at Peace one Sunday evening in the Spring of 2008 and just taking in his music and style that he brought to this ministry. When I saw Pr. Michael's announcement on Facebook about his passing my heart sank. Our families' prayers are with you all as you continue to grieve this tragic loss.
