Youth at Peace is for 7th- 12th graders- come join the fun!! Contact one of our youth leaders to learn more: Lindsay Ballowe, John and Julie Barstow, Kevin and Laurie Weiss Cook, Kyle and Melissa Ross From Peace to Peace: A Border Experience The youth and other interested individuals are invited to travel to New Mexico and Mexico for a week of service. We will be leaving July 6th after the 11:00 service to travel the 14 hours in vans and arrive back at Peace on July 14th in the wee hours of the morning. The week will be filled with various service opportunities along with fun and leisure activities to fill up the days. We will spend one day in Mexico to get the entire border experience. In order to make this happen, all interested people should begin their passport application process ASAP! The trip will most likely be no more than $200 and we will be sponsored by Peace Lutheran Church (Las Cruces, NM), Holy Family Ecumenical Catholic Church and Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity. Questions or comments, please talk to Lindsay. ******** The Ski Trip had 35 participants, with 17 youth who all traveled to Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp to ski the slopes at Monarch Mountain. The theme of the four days was "Go and Do Likewise," where we looked at what it means being a Christian in this world. We have often heard "Christianity is counter-cultural," so we applied this Biblical verse to that concept. How are we to go and do likewise in the world today? We compared the two and talked about what it means to walk with Jesus and how each one of us can make a difference in the world. The last day we all worshipped together and shared in the Lord's Supper. This was a great success due to the Youth Leaders, the Ski Trip Committee, Youth Advisory Board and all the cooperative and enthusiastic youth! In April, we will continue with the Ski Trip theme "Go and Do likewise" by participating in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine! That's right-the youth leaders and youth will fast for 30 hours starting at lunch on Friday, April 25 and go until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday! We are asking for congregational support in breaking our fast!! Please pray for us as you sit down with your family to eat on Friday and Saturday. We invite you to come join us in breaking our fast with dinner on Saturday come and eat with us!! We will also have a movie night at the church on Friday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. to join in fellowship with lots of snacks and food before we gather together to advocate and educate ourselves on world and national hunger. April 11- Movie Night at 6:30 p.m. at Peace April 25-26- 30 Hour Famine (Noon on Friday- 6:30 p.m. on Saturday!)
